Cammie Basseri (né Clark) is an observer first, a creator second. From the minutiae in nature’s details to the expanding needs of the planet and human race, Basseri’s poetic voice draws from the raw material of her own life living in abject poverty amongst the grandeur of Yosemite National Park and Stanislaus National Forest. Living in the burn scar of the land, Basseri repeatedly observed nature’s trauma and regrowth over the course of her youth while at the same time noting the same pattern within her own home, always wondering when the next fire was coming.
Basseri has traversed the scale in the art of making and the art of printing, having studied renaissance printmaking in Florence, Italy, to working in print shops, and then spending 15 years working in the Bay Area Newspaper industry, delving into all facets of publishing and eventually turning to writing.
She spends her time either writing from the rainy shores of Ireland or the beneath the sunny skies of Florida, making frequent visits to Los Angeles to spend time with her young adult daughter. Her husband, Timothy, makes sure she is well caffeinated.
